Hello,

Your company or organization is invited to participate in the development of a sustainability standard for

the slot machines they produce

There are five ways you, your company or your organization can participate in this project:

􀀹

Apply to participate on the standards committee for the standard

􀀹

Apply to participate on a subcommittee for the standard

􀀹

Make a financial donation to support the development of this standard

􀀹

Make a commitment to use the standard to specify the desired level of sustainability in the

procurement of slot machines

􀀹

Make a commitment to use the standard to evaluate and document the sustainability achievement

level of slot machines manufactured

More information about this standard development process and the projected timeline of this project is

Slot Machine Sustainability Standard Development

Updated: October 10, 2008

Need for the Standard:

Slot machines use a significant amount of materials during their manufacture and a significant amount of

electricity over the course of their lifetime. A standard that makes it easy to define the sustainability parameters

of a slot machine will make it easy for manufacturers to promote and sell environmentally-friendly slot

machines and for slot machine buyers to specify their sustainability preferences for slot machines when

purchasing this equipment.

Objectives of the Standard:

The objective of the standard is to provide a framework for market-driven increase in the sustainability profile

of slot machines. This includes energy use and emission reductions, as well as the procurement and use of more

sustainable materials in the manufacture of slot machines.

Participants in the Development of the Initial Draft Standard:

Eric Hansel – EGM Green; Dean McClain, Paul Magno – GLI; Michael Arny – Leonardo Academy

Sponsorships:

Leonardo Academy is a charitable (501c3) non-profit organization and is seeking donations from sponsors to

I just got back again from Vegas…just a 3 day trip…I unfortunately had to fire someone.  While I was out at the WSOP this time, I got to be on Poker Road Radio with Joe Sebok, and Ali Nejad…and some other dude..  I was able to talk a little bit about why our tables are Eco-Friendly and what Harrahs’s is doing with our table.  We will be giving the Eco-Friendly Tournament Poker Table to the Main Event Champion of the WSOP.

I also got to have a nice conversation with Jeffrey Pollack (Commissioner of WSOP) about our tables and the plans to Green the World Series of Poker next year.

I also had some cool meetings with All In Energy Drinks, Gamma-O, and Hertz.

I have been back from Vegas for over a week, and am just getting all of my stuff finished.  The WSOP is very cool, and all of the folks involved were extremely helpful.  Jeffrey Pollack said that we were good publicity for the WSOP.

I did Rounders Radio this past Friday, and had a blast with Ace and the crew.  We talked about our Eco-Friendly casino tables and how the WSOP is giving one of them to the Main Event Champion.  We also let every one know that you can enter to win your very own Eco-Friendly poker table at our booth at The Rio, or on www.egmgreen.com or www.executivegamingmonthly.com.

WSOP press release

May 23, 2008 — WORLD’S FIRST ENVIRONMENTALLY “GREEN” POKER TABLE WILL DEBUT AT WORLD SERIES OF POKER®

Revolutionary Eco-Friendly Tournament Poker Table Will Be Part of the Prize Package to the WSOP™ Winner

Toms River, NJ (May 23, 2008) – Poker players are used to seeing green on the felt of a poker table, but when the thousands of players arrive at the World Series of Poker (“WSOP”) later this month they will see their first “Green”—as in environmentally friendly – tournament poker table.

WSOP Green Table And the World Series of Poker winner will go home with his or her very own “Green” table courtesy of its manufacturer, New Jersey-based EGM Green. EGM Green’s Tournament Poker Table made from 98% sustainable materials will be on display at this year’s WSOP. EGM Green is a venture by Executive Gaming Monthly (EGM) to bring Eco-Friendly gaming products to the casino and luxury markets. The company holds that applying sustainable design principles to poker tables and other casino products can significantly reduce volumes of waste, decrease use of natural resources and lower impacts on ecosystems.
Some of the details on the table’s manufacturing include:

  • All wood is FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified
  • All paints and stains used in the table are formaldehyde free
  • The table is assembled with water based adhesives

The EGM Green Tournament Poker Table has not only been created using sustainable design principals and resources, but its purchase can enhance the Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ rating for the properties deploying the tables on the casino floor.

“We are pleased that the Harrah’s has chosen to debut the table at the WSOP,” said EGM Green President Eric Hansel. “Casinos are taking up the mantle of sustainability and leading the charge is Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. EGM Green is positioned to help drive sustainable change by offering green products developed for casinos.”

The EGM Green table will be featured in the exhibit area of the WSOP in the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino®, where representatives from both EGM Green and Harrah’s will talk about what their companies are doing to tread lightly on the Earth.

The EGM Green Poker Table may soon be showing up at socially conscious casinos around the country, but it won’t be sacrificing the convenience and quality that poker players are accustomed to at the table. Casinos will be able to add options that feature wood footrings, padded armrest rings, dealer accessories, 15 standard wood finishes, custom finishes and eco-friendly casino-grade poker supplies.
